Squirrel Honored For Its Bravery On The Plate

Topps is releasing a new collectible card showcasing a squirrel that ran onto the field during a Yankees-Red Sox game. He briefly halted play in the fourth inning at Yankee Stadium as it approached pitcher Max Fried on the mound. The squirrel and Fried engaged in a brief stare-down before the animal scurried to the foul zone and disappeared through the outfield fence. Although the squirrel failed to achieve “rally squirrel” status – the Yankees went on to lose 1-0 – Topps quickly unveiled a new Topps Now card featuring photos of the surprise field invader. Dubbed “It’s nuts! Furry friend takes mound at Yankee Stadium,” the $8.99 card had already sold out by Monday.
