On her 63rd birthday, cancer survivor Krystyna Locke celebrated by paying for hospital parking fees of fellow patients at the London Health Sciences Centre. Locke, who was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in 2004, fundraised $3,700 throughout the year to cover the costs. "When they saw my sign, they would walk up to me and, right away, a big smile on their face and they were so thankful," Locke said. While free hospital parking would be ideal, Locke believes people can ease patients' burdens by following her lead. She plans to return next year to celebrate her 64th birthday the same way.
