A Utah grandfather is alive today because of his granddaughter’s premature birth. Toby Alt was visiting his daughter and her newborn when he collapsed unexpectedly. Fortunately, Gia had been born two weeks early, placing her granddad in the perfect spot to have a medical emergency. Hospital staff were able to quickly do CPR and four defibrillator shocks before transferring to another hospital where a pacemaker was implanted. Family members say the timing of the birth kept him within steps of lifesaving care. The proud Paw Paw is now recovering and spending as much time as possible with the little one.
