No-Show For Gumbo Saved His Life

Donnell Stallworth, a cook at Shrimp Basket in Pensacola, Florida, rescued a 78-year-old regular customer who had fallen and been trapped in his home for days. The elderly man visited the restaurant daily at 11 a.m. for over a decade to order gumbo, and the staff got worried when he stopped appearing. Stallworth went to the customer's house and knocked multiple times before hearing him call for help. "I just left work, went to his house, and I knocked on the door like two times, the third time I knocked on it... I heard him like, 'Help' and 'Who is it?'" The man was found on the floor with multiple broken ribs and severe bruising. "He was in tears, like, 'I don't even know how long I've been here,'" Stallworth recalled. Paramedics transported the customer to receive medical care, and he is now recovering.
