Driver Miraculously Walks Away After Truck Falls 300-Ft From Highway

A driver in Ouray, Colorado, survived a 300-foot fall off the “Million Dollar Highway,” an area known for its steep drops and lack of guardrails.The pickup truck plunged into the River and landed on its roof atop a pile of small boulders. Rescue teams rappelled down the cliffside to reach the vehicle and used a technical rope system to lift the driver back up.

The Ouray Mountain Rescue Team reports that the driver sustained only minor injuries, calling the survival “miraculous.” Photos of the wreckage shared online drew multiple comments saying it’s hard to believe anyone could survive such a crash.

Part of U.S. Route 550, the Million Dollar Highway is frequently listed among the most dangerous roads in the country due to its narrow lanes and sharp turns.
