On Sunday morning, a pair of retired NYPD officers rescued a woman and her five-month-old baby from the East River in College Point, Queens. The woman walked into the water while holding the child during a Halloween parade event at Hermon MacNeil Park, prompting bystanders to call for help. Former officers Kevin O’Donnell and Paul Pinsdorf went into the water, with Pinsdorf pulling both the woman and infant to safety before emergency crews arrived. The woman and the baby were taken to separate local hospitals and authorities are still trying to understand the woman’s intentions.
