A family in the Keystone neighborhood of northwest Omaha is building a food pantry in their front yard to support neighbors experiencing food insecurity, especially families connected to nearby Boyd Elementary School. Kaitlynn Eaton says she was motivated to act after learning that SNAP benefits would be paused this month and wanted to offer another resource for those in need. While the full-size wooden pantry is still under construction, the family has already set up a smaller box with food and cooking tips for households missing common ingredients. The pantry is open for anyone to donate or take items as needed.
