While making deliveries this past Friday morning, Amazon delivery driver Ciara Aschan helped save a home in Des Moines after spotting smoke and flames during her route. She immediately called 911, ran to the house, and knocked on doors to alert anyone inside before checking to be sure it was empty.
According to the Des Moines Fire Department, her fast response gave crews a crucial head start, allowing them to contain the fire to the upper floor and prevent the house from being completely destroyed.
The homeowners later thanked Aschan, saying firefighters told them the damage would have been much worse without her quick call. Investigators believe the fire likely started near a wood-burning stove, and fortunately no one was hurt.
