“Hero” Officer Pulls Unresponsive Driver From Burning Vehicle

Early this past Sunday, a police officer in Maynard, Massachusetts, rushed to help a driver after his truck caught fire following a crash. Officer Joseph Noonan had been flagged down by someone nearby and found a pickup that had hit a utility pole. Smoke was filling the cab and flames were beginning to rise from under the hood. The driver was awake but not responding to instructions.

As the fire intensified, Noonan reached through a window and pulled the driver out moments before the entire truck became engulfed in flames. Fire crews arrived moments later and put out the blaze. Emergency responders evaluated the driver and determined he didn’t need to go to the hospital.

Maynard police and fire officials commended Noonan for his actions, with Sergeant Eric Davoll calling it great work and Fire Captain Travis Gross saying his efforts prevented what could have been a fatal incident.
