250-Pound Pig Finds New Home At Sanctuary After Living In Car

Roscoe, a 250-pound pig who lived with his homeless owner in a Portland car for months, has found a forever home at Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary.

Veteran Tony James became homeless in June 2024 after some health issues. His partner of 11 years died from a heart attack a month later, leaving James with dog Elvis and 3-year-old pig Roscoe. Portland Fire & Rescue connected with James and arranged sanctuary placement.

The sanctuary director said “It was actually quite emotional because the bond between Tony and Roscoe was very apparent, They love each other very much. We were all crying.” Roscoe will join 132 other pigs on the sanctuary’s 54 acres after quarantine and neutering.
