KC's Letter - Christmas Wish 2021

Dear Mark,

I would like to share a little about a patient I met at Memorial. KC is a kind and loving 28-year-old pre-school teacher. Her fiancé and college sweetheart is also an educator who teaches high school history. The two are expecting their first child in just a few short months; a little boy! At a time when it should be nothing but baby showers and preparing the nursery, KC is also dealing with something unimaginable. When she was just 13 weeks pregnant she received devastating news that she had metastatic breast cancer.

KC is now 27 weeks into her pregnancy, and almost halfway through her chemotherapy treatment. Even so, every time I talk to KC she is always happy and asking how I am doing. I even get baby bump pictures! She never complains about her situation and attributes her strength to her faith in God. I know how much she loves her child already, and how much suffering she is going through to protect him. I am convinced she is a real life angel sent from God.

I want to give KC and her family the best Christmas they have ever had. For her baby boy she could use a playpen, baby bottles, a bouncy chair and blankets. Her family has only requested a toaster, and bath towels and washcloths. I know getting gift cards to Target and Walmart would help them immensely as they prepare for their son. Please help me make their Christmas just a little bit brighter.

Thank you so much,

Wanda Frost RN, BSN
