SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A truck hit a gas pump and started a fire at a service station on Largo Drive.

According to the Savannah Police Department, a truck traveling Friday afternoon on Largo lost control and hit the pump, starting a fire. The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A couple of witnesses next to the store and from across the street rushed over to help.

Just before police cleared the scene, City of Savannah Code Enforcement began taping it off to prevent anyone from getting into the parking lot.

Code Enforcement says they’re condemning the gas pump and will remove the canopy above it.

They’ve also secured the scene by turning off all the breakers, pumps and power.

Code Enforcement says the public will have access to the convenience store Saturday, but will not be able to use the gas pumps at this time.

Savannah Police officers are investigating the crash.
