How Adele is reaching out during the holidays

Adele paid a special visit Thursday to a community kitchen for Grenfell fire survivors in London.

She snapped photos with some of the women at the Hubb Community Kitchen, which was started in the wake of the tragic fire and now prepares 200 meals a day for local groups, including elderly people’s homes, homeless shelters and women refugees.

One of the women, Munira Mahmoud, wrote on Instagram, “Had pleasure cooking for Adele Laurie blue 2 days in a row wow.... What a blessing ... She beautiful kind and very Humble Lady.”

Adele has been a longtime advocate for victims of the June 2017 Grenfell Tower blaze, which claimed the lives of more than 70 people. In June of this year, she paid tribute to the victims at a one-year anniversary ceremony.

Meanwhile Adele and rapper Stormzy back the survivors in an appeal for “dangerous cladding” to be removed from buildings across the UK.

On December 13th, survivors group Grenfell United released a video – which features Adele, Stormzy, the lead singer of Mumford & Sons, Marcus Mumford, and social activist Akala – pressing the British government to reform the housing system. Stormzy opens the powerful film with the line, “This isn’t a charity film, this is a clarity film.”

The combustible cladding used in the construction of Grenfell Tower has been blamed for contributing to the fire.
