VETERAN WITH CANCER ASKS FOR LETTERS

A patient at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota took out a newspaper ad asking people to send him letters during his last days. The ad read: “James Wiitamaki is dying from cancer at the St. Cloud VA Hospital. He would like to receive letters from people.” His great-niece found the newspaper ad and shared it on Facebook, saying that if anyone has a few minutes to send a card, she thinks he would be more than ecstatic to receive it.  If you would like to send James a letter, here is the address he shared:

James Wiitamaki

VA Medical Center

B51-24801 Veterans Drive

St. Cloud, MN 56303

The VA Medical Center confirmed James Wiitamaki is a patient in their community living center.

My great uncle put this in the newspaper, unbeknownst to us. If anyone has a few minutes to send a card, I think he would be more than ecstatic to receive it.#CardsforJimmy

**The correct zip code is 56303**

Thank you for your support! I am seriously in awe at all the kindness you have shown my uncle and our family.

I think Jimmy is going to be busy reading for quite some time 😊 If you are thinking about sending a letter, consider sending one without a direct recipient to the Saint Cloud VA (or your local VA or nursing homes) - hoping we can spread the wealth and bring joy to all those who may need a little extra sunshine 🙂
