Proverbs 3:15a She is more precious than rubies
My mom is a true life version of the Proverbs 31 lady. She has spent her entire life giving and sacrificing her own needs to meet the needs of others. As a child, she gave up her childhood to take care of her younger siblings. As an adult, she did without many things to give my brother and I a wonderful, happy childhood. As a teacher of 22 years, she taught not from textbooks, but from the depths of her heart. She touched the lives of many children and their parents. She taught Sunday school for 19 years, attended church faithfully for 30 years, serving her Lord through serving other people. My mom has supported many people in need: homeless families, low-income families, elderly people whose families had moved on with their lives and forgotten them, and so many others. One of her most amazing accomplishments is that she started Safe Hollow Animal Sanctuary, Inc in Ludowici, Ga at a time when the city had no animal control or any other rescues. I like to think that she is a pioneer in the animal rescue world. She saw a need and she sprung into action and solved the problem. She has saved countless lives over the past 13 years. The one thing I admire most about my mom is that whether it is people or animals, she always loves everyone, including the broken, the damaged and the lost. My mother is my best friend and my hero. I can not put into words just how amazing she is. She is love, she is light, she is beauty. She is a gem that shines bright! - Rachel
