What comedian George Lopez posted yesterday that's got social media buzzing

Comedian George Lopez has novel ideas about how the Trump administration should approach law enforcement.

He took to Instagram on Friday, writing: "The Trump administration is deporting Latinos to make the streets safer…. You wanna make the streets safer deport the police." After getting blowback, he followed up the post with this: "This is not an indictment of all Law Enforcement, some still just beat you. #gacho#georgelopezonhbo #TheWall @momorodriguez #gracias."

  • One naysayer, anna_calderon3 wrote, "Wrong!!! Mad respect for Law Enforcement!!!!!" while sweetpea6318 wrote, "Not a very smart comment from a celebrity. We should all be coming together."
  • After getting increasingly angry comments from fellow Instagrammers, he posted again on Monday.
  • He put out a shot of the late, great band The Police with the phrase “Deport the Police” overlaying it.
  • He captioned it: “I hope this clears up any misunderstanding. Comedy has a way of healing , but I also realize it can hurt too, so let's let cooler heads prevail.”

  • @_micah.19_ posts, “George you are so stupid, you clueless liberal idiot, why don't you get rid of your security team first.”
  • @mary_arango posts, “As a Hispanic woman who is married to a police officer I am disgusted with your comment”
  • @crabman242 posts, “that is is by far the stupidest statement I have ever heard.”
