Effingham County Christmas Ornament Contest!

posted by Mark Robertson -

Each year the First Lady of Georgia chooses a theme for the Christmas décor at the Governor’s Mansion, and this year’s theme is County Courthouses of Georgia.

With this theme in mind, our Effingham County Board of Commissioners is asking for local youth ages 5-12 to create and submit a hand-made Christmas ornament for selection by a panel of judges. One ornament will be selected and sent to the Governor’s Mansion to decorate their Christmas tree. (The ornament selected and sent to Atlanta will not be returned to us.) The remaining ornaments will hang on our Effingham County tree in Springfield.

Ornaments should be 5”x7” or smaller and may be flat or three dimensional. Please include child’s name, age, and Effingham County on the back of the ornament and submit ornament by bringing it to the Effingham County Administrative Complex, located at 601 North Laurel Street, in Springfield. Submission deadline is 4:00 pm on September 15, 2017. We look forward to seeing your ornaments.

For additional information, please call 912-754-2111 or visit effinghamcounty.org.
