P!nk has released the music video for her new single “What About Us.” The track is the lead single off the singer’s studio album Beautiful Trauma, due out October 13th.
The clip, directed by Georgia Hudson and features choreography by The GoldenBoyz RJ Durell and Nick Florez, clip begins with overlapping sounds including political speeches, protestors chanting and a man saying, “We are going to reject hate! We are going to reject racism!” The video then shows imagery of distraught citizens, police lights flashing, helicopter spotlights and an apocalyptic-looking city landscape.
It was recently announced that P!nk will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards – giving fodder to some internet trolls.
P!nk and Christina Aguilera had reportedly feuded for years after working together on 2001’s “Lady Marmalade,” and Pink provided an update about their relationship after someone tweeted a snarky commented, writing, “Let’s celebrate @Pink’s Vanguard Award with the only relevant video of her career, starring as Xtina backup singer.”
Pink responded, “Want to point out an awful new phenomenon of the last 10’years. We can no longer be happy for each other. I ❤️Xtina, we’ve made amends….”
“Music brings us all together. The best part of music is- there’s room for everyone to win at the same time. Don’t be what’s wrong w/da world,” she continued. “Let’s be an example of inclusion and celebration. You don’t have to like me at all, I’m ok with that. Just be a decent person.”
The singer added: “And you’re f**kin rip van winkle if you’ve never seen one of my videos.”
