A 6-year-old student was found passing out money to his fellow classmates at Sunshine Elementary School in Lee County, Florida. The 6-year-old boy was handing out $100s, $50s, $20s, and $10s in cash to his classmates. First graders carrying big bills throughout the school quickly caught the attention of school staff who found the child had $16,000 stashed in his backpack! Deputies learned the boy took the cash from his mother, who cleans homes for a living. Some parents picking up their children from Sunshine Elementary on Monday thought the incident was a funny misunderstanding but most were shocked that a parent would leave that amount of money in a place where her child could easily find and take it.. Some of the cash was returned. Parents like Keagan Adams, who has three children at the school, said she wished she would have been notified of the incident when it happened. “I’m shocked. I’m more shocked they didn’t even tell us about it,” said Adams. “Just in case a kid has money in this backpack and they don’t think of it you’d want to be able to return it to somebody.”
