Americans don't have to worry about surprise fees when seeking medical care

The start of 2022 brings with it a new law that ends surprise medical bills. The federal No Surprises Act, which took effect on January 1st, protects patients who receive emergency care or scheduled treatment from doctors and hospitals outside of their insurance networks that they didn't choose. It requires insurance companies to cover charges from out-of-network providers in those circumstances.
