When it comes to easy access to drinking water, Chicago has it made. The city sits on Lake Michigan, which accounts for an impressive 4 percent of the entire world’s unfrozen surface freshwater. Intake pipes positioned a couple miles off the coast send water to a purification facility and, over the course of eight hours, it gets stripped of any unsavory ingredients.
… Now you can buy some of this Lake Michigan/Chicago water in a can. The city is celebrating Lake Michigan by releasing a series of limited-edition cans, which will spotlight Chicago’s vibrant arts scene. Each of the six cans bears an image created by a different Chicago-based artist, whose designs were inspired by the city itself.
