It seems that the city of Pittsburgh is attracting a new population of large blue feathered residents. Animal control offers from the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department responding to a report of a bird in distress arrived at the scene to find a great blue heron. That’s the largest species of heron found in the U.S., and they’d never before seen one in Pittsburgh. But hours after they posted about it on Facebook, a number of local residents reported other sightings of blue herons near their homes. The bird is resting comfortably at a wildlife center.
