They really know how to celebrate a birthday in Nebraska. Duane Hansen, of Syracuse, Nebraska, grows giant vegetables as a hobby. So, he had a 600-pound pumpkin on hand when he was considering how to celebrate his 60th birthday. He carved the pumpkin into a boat and floated for 30 miles down the Missouri River in it, hoping to set a new Guinness World Record. (For what, I'm not sure.) He stopped at Bellevue City Hall first to recruit a couple of witnesses. “They say if you stay in your job long enough, you might see just about everything and this morning was one of those days,” a mayor’s office employee said in a Facebook post.
