Officer Big B and FWPD took on the classic style of car sales commercials to interest potential recruits. He asked the chief if it would be ok to do something out of the box and this is the result.
The commercial ran for one month throughout October and generated over 1000 applications, 25% of which were from females. Officer Big B is really Buddy Calzada who came up with the idea of sounding like a used car salesman. The commercial went viral. And the department got the authorization to hire 72 of those who saw and replied to the ad.
