The Riverbanks Zoo and Garden in Colorado is celebrating the emergence of a joey, or baby koala, from his or her mother’s pouch. (The baby’s sex is not known yet.) The joey peeped out for the first time last week, and his veterinary team says that’s a good sign. He or she will get a first checkup this week.
