2023 has already been a tough year for the Dallas Zoo! In the fourth suspicious event of the year, two emperor tamarin monkeys recently went missing from the zoo and were found in a closet in a Lancaster home.
"We are thrilled beyond belief to share that our two emperor tamarin monkeys have been found," Dallas Zoo officials said. "They will be evaluated by our veterinarians this evening."
The empty building where the monkeys were found was reportedly broken into and filled with wild animals.
The Dallas Zoo has been plagued by strange occurrences recently: a clouded leopard escaped after her enclosure was intentionally cut; the langur monkeys habitat was cut, and an endangered vulture was found dead in suspicious circumstances.
