Looks like humans have not been bested by AI...in the drive-thru line. TikTokers have posted videos of their struggles using AI to order from McDonald's drive-thru windows, with less-than-ideal results.
TikToker Ren Adams attempted to order hash browns, sweet tea, and a Coke, but ran into trouble when her window picked up orders from another customer. Frustrated, Adams drove away without completing her order. Madilynn Cameron got into a fight with the McDonald's robot when she tried to order plain vanilla ice cream in a cup, and butter was added to her bill.
In another video, Cailyn Sykora could barely contain her laughter as her McDonald's window added 200 McNuggets to her order.
McDonald's announced that it would bring Automated Order Taking technology to more locations in 2021
But as exciting as automated drive-thrus may seem, the technology isn't living up to the hype. But at least it's delivering hilarious results on TikTok.
