A Lufthansa flight made an emergency landing in Virginia due to severe turbulence, and seven people received treatment for injuries.
The flight was traveling to Frankfurt from Austin, but was forced to land in Dulles. Passengers say the plane dropped twice very sharply in about 20 seconds.
Jazz Kantipudi saw a crew member hit the ceiling during one of the drops. "He was literally standing up serving drinks, so he had no way to brace himself," Kantipudi said. Another passenger said the pilot told them the plane dropped 4,000 feet.
One uninjured passenger said the spilled food and wine ruined their clothes. The FAA will be investigating the incident.
