A drug to treat breast cancer has now been tapped as a treatment to lower the chances of breast cancer coming back. The scientific advancement that is already approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration could be the key to reducing recurring breast cancer cases for good. A researcher said: “we found that adding this drug to the best available standard therapy will decrease the recurrence rate by as much as 25%,” which could mean life or death for the part of the population that are fighting off breast cancer for the first or second time. The company that supplies the drug plans to submit the proper paperwork to regulators in the U.S. and Europe before the year’s end to ensure the rollout of the drug as soon as possible.
