A hawk targeting postal workers in an Austin neighborhood has caused a suspension of mail delivery services. Residents of Milam Place and Kenwood Avenue say the bird of prey attacks anyone who goes outside.
"I've always been able to dodge it. I just kind of like go underneath my awning or run into my car," resident Alfred Del Barrio said. His brother was not so lucky and was attacked in the back of his head.
THe U.S. Postal Service informed residents that they would have to pick up their mail at a nearby Post Office until the issue is resolved.
Wildlife biologist Blake Hendon thinks the hawk is protecting its young, and the attacks should stop once the baby birds have left the nest. This could take six or seven weeks. Check out the videos below:
