A high school student's pain from kidney disease comes to a happy end

A math teacher in Michigan did more than teach. He saved a life. Eddie McCarthy learned one of his students needed a kidney after years of pain and would lead to years of dialysis.

Roman was born with a rare condition that had progressed to stage 4 kidney disease. His usually upbeat active lifestyle was being compromised, but thanks to McCarthy, Roman has a new kidney.

McCarthy is a parent of two and he said he put himself in their shoes and knew what he had to do.

The surgery took place July 19 and was a success. Roman's mom cannot extpress her gratitude enough but did say if you need to find McCarthy, he'll be at her house for Christmas dinner. (Can't wait to see the gift he gets!!!)
