Kelly Clarkson updates her song "Piece By Piece" with no mention of her ex

Kelly Clarkson, who will perform at our upcoming iHeartRadio Music Festival, performed her personal and moving ballad of her father's abandonment but this time with a few lyric changes.

In the original she credited her new husband (now her ex-husband) as giving her hope that he would be a better husband and father than her biological dad. But thought they married in 2013, it was a rocky relationship which ended in divorce last year. I wondered if she would ever do this song again. And she did, with a few lyric changes. During her live performance in Las Vegas, the she told the crowd that she’d initially written “Piece By Piece” as a “super hopeful” song, but now says that “sometimes hopeful turns into hopeless, so here we go.”
