We know what it's like when an aircraft goes down in the middle of an airshow. It happened a few years ago during a performance by the Navy's Blue Angels at the MCAS Beaufort Air Show.
Now officials in the Detroit suburb of Ypsilanti say that a plane has crashed into an apartment building during an air show there. There are reports that two people may have actually parachuted out of the plane.
There is no word on whether there have been any injuries, however the “Thunder Over Michigan” air show was immediately cancelled.
There are multiple reports that the plane that crashed during an airshow near Detroit was a Soviet-era fighter jet. The privately-owned MIG 23 was participating in the “Thunder Over Michigan” air show – one of the largest in the nation.
Video posted on social media shows two people apparently ejecting from the plane before it crashed into an apartment building in the town of Ypsilanti, about 40 miles east of Detroit.
