A 17-year-old Texas teen is alive today thanks to his family’s dog, Axel, who saved his life when he experienced a stroke. Amanda and Daines Tanner were awakened by their one-year-old border collie early in the morning and were led to their son Gabriel’s bedroom, where they found him slurring his words. Gabriel was rushed to the emergency room and is now undergoing physical and speech therapy. Doctors determined that the stroke was caused by an artery tear. The family initially thought Axel needed to go outside, but the dog insisted on leading them to Gabriel’s room.
