A customer accessing his safety deposit box in a New York business found himself locked in a vault for over 10 hours. The incident occurred at the World Diamond Tower, where the vault is owned by DGA Security and used by several Diamond District businesses. The man was locked in when employees who were unaware of his presence closed the door. The New York Fire Department was called to the scene and was able to communicate with the man through security cameras and a phone system. Firefighters attempted to cut through a concrete wall to enter the vault but stopped to avoid injury to the man. Instead, they waited for the timer to open the lock, which happened the following morning. The customer was examined by EMS at the scene and then sent home.
