- The superintendent of a New Jersey School district has canceled the district’s school-wide Halloween celebrations. He said he was concerned about the potential for the celebration to be offensive to people from some cultural and religious backgrounds. He also worried that it was a financial hardship for some students. The superintendent said teachers overwhelmingly agreed Halloween should be canceled. Governor Phil Murphy’s response was brief: “Give me a break!”
