A commercial airliner crossed the Atlantic without using any fossil fuels. The Virgin Atlantic Boeing 787 flew from London to New York on Tuesday running on tallow and waste fats.
"The world will always assume something can't be done, until you do it," Virgin founder Richard Branson, who was aboard the flight, said.
The UK Transport Department provided $1.27 million dollars to operate the flight, which is a step toward "jet zero." Jet Zero aims to decarbonize air travel with sustainable fuel.
Here's how the story was covered by some American television newscasts...and by the BBC.
