Don't hold in your sneezes! A man in his 30s tore a hole in his windpipe trying to stop the physical response, Live Science reports.
The man tried to stop a sneeze while he was driving by pinching his nose and mouth. Shortly after, he went to the ER for neck pain.
The trachea became "perforated due to a rapid buildup of pressure," scientists report. Fortunately, the windpipe healed on its own without surgery.
Pressure during a sneeze can be 20 times higher than normal.
