Cayton Law of Pittsburgh left an envelope on his kitchen counter with some cash in it. When he returned, he found his family’s goldendoodle, Cecil, chewing on the money — $100 and $50 bills. The amount left by Cayton on the counter: $4,000 — cash for some contractors that have been doing work on the home he owns with his wife. Wife Carrie said Cecil “has never in his life tried to get anything from a counter, even coffee table. We could leave dinner and go to the kitchen and grab wine, and he would not touch the food, and he just doesn’t care. He just took this opportunity and ran with it.” Fortunately, a veterinarian advised them that Cecil would be OK. Unfortunately, he swallowed about $2,000 and had torn up nearly all of it. And so for the next few weeks Cayton and Carrie spent their free time, uh, cleaning parts of money that they found in their yard. Fortunately they were able to recover and match quite a few pieces for their bank to take. They lost, in total, $500.
Here is some TV coverage of this story which has since gone viral.
