The Berlin Zoo is spreading post-Christmas cheer among its animal residents by feeding them unwanted Christmas trees. In an annual event, the trees are unwrapped and given to the elephants, bison, and reindeer. The elephants used their trunks to tear off branches, either eating them or tossing them around. The bison nestled into the trees before starting to munch on them, while the reindeer sniffed and played with the conifers. The zoo only takes fresh, unsold trees from select vendors, as trees from the public may contain chemicals or leftover decorations.
