Tracy Chapman's return to the stage gets standing ovation at The Grammys

Last night during the 66th annual Grammy Awards, among the performances of artists like Billy Joel, Joni Mitchell and Annie Lennox was Tracy Chapman who sang a duet of her 1988 hit "Fast Car" with country artist Luke Combs who took it to #1 last year.

Tracy Chapman is the first Black woman in history to have the sole songwriting credit on a #1 country hit, when Luke Combs’ cover of her 1988 song “Fast Car” hit the top of the chart last year.

After not performing publicly for years, Tracy and Luke performed that song on the Grammy Awards. This video may be removed by the time you try to see it but let's try....

It's not quite the same but Max C put this video together months ago writing:

We're all fans of the song "Fast Car", right? Luke Combs just did a great version of it. But, if you're like me, you wonder what a duet with Tracy Chapman would sound like. Sure, the record company will eventually release a duet version. Or, there will be a special awards show where they will sing it together. But, who wants to wait?!? Not me! Ain't nobody got time for dat'!!! Here's a custom mix and music video that I created. I extracted the authentic, original 1988 Tracy Chapman vocals, and mixed it with the Luke Combs version.
