An English woman woke up with a Welsh accent one day, despite having never visited the country.
Zoe Coles can now roll her Rs, and she's often asked if she's from Cardiff. She developed the condition, which she suspects is foreign accent syndrome, in June 2023.
Only 150 documented cases of FAS exist worldwide. It is usually brought on by traumatic injury to the brain.
She believes she has the extraordinarily rare foreign accent syndrome (FAS). There have only been around 150 cases documented worldwide since its first mention in 1907.
Unfortunately, Coles now says she doesn't feel like she fits in anymore.
"You grow up and develop a way of speaking," Coles said. "That has been taken away from me."
Ms Coles, a former bartender, now gets 'anxious' whenever she leaves home as she feels like she 'doesn't fit in any more' because of her new voice.
