Alabama student stuns at prom with handmade Disney-inspired dress

Layla Hildreth brought Disney royalty to her prom this year by creating a dress based on the popular Disney fairytale story "Princess and the Frog." The movie "Princess and the Frog" tells the story of a Disney princess named Tiana. She is hardworking and has big dreams of opening her own restaurant. She never lets people tell her that she can’t do it. Layla fits the bill.

"If I make something for prom, I want it to be memorable. I want people to look at it and think about where it came from," said Layla Hildreth, describing her inspiration for designing the dress of her dreams.

"When it was time to make my dress, I was like I want to be her, I want to keep going. I want to put in that work to get where I want to be," Hildreth said.

Her creativity was sparked and she spent five months putting fabrics together. "It’s probably like 10 yards of satin and then a lot of tulle," Hildreth said. The material to make the dress cost close to $300, but Hildreth says it was worth every penny. Her design was a hit at prom, with many people amazed by it.

"They were like, 'Girl, how did you do that?'"

Just like Princess Tiana, she shined bright in her green and gold dress, creating a moment she will remember forever. Check the video below!
