How a couple found $100,000 in a park...and was able to keep it all

A couple found $100,000 dollars in a New York park…and it looks like they’ll get to keep it! James Kane and Barbie Agostini took up magnet fishing during the pandemic, and have found grenades, coins, jewelry, and a motorcycle. But a case containing hundred-dollar bills might be their best find yet! The pair found a safe in the lake at Flushing Meadows Corona Park on May 31st. After cracking the safe and finding cash inside, the two brought their findings to the NYPD. Since there’s no way to know who owned the safe and the money was not linked to a crime, the couple can keep their catch. “Magnet fishing” involves lowering a magnet into water and attempting to pull up metal objects.
