Dwayne Johnson Sings For A Time-Sensitive Make-A-Wish Request

Dwayne Johnson, who voiced the shapeshifting demigod Maui in the 2016 Disney film, isn’t just reprising the role for the upcoming sequel, Moana 2 — he recently revisited the voice for one special little girl.

On Sunday, he posted a video to fulfill a time-sensitive request from the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

“I received a request that I need to share with you guys,” Johnson told the camera. “The sharing of this request is in the spirit of Make-A-Wish, which is a foundation that I hold near and dear to my heart.”

He continued, “This is a special Make-A-Wish request and it’s called a rush wish. And a rush wish means, what the implication sounds like, which is time is just not on our side.”

He said that the wish was for a four-year-old girl, Lily, who is currently on home hospice. He explained, "She watches Moana everyday all day, her dad said, and her wish is to have Dwayne Johnson sing ‘You’re Welcome’ to her and have it recorded so she can listen to it over and over and over.”

Following his performance, Johnson directly addresses Lily.

“Thank you so much for allowing me the privilege of making your Make-a-Wish come true,” he said. “That was me singing ‘You’re Welcome’ in probably a few keys that don’t exist. I hope you enjoyed it and Lily, you are so special.”

On Instagram he wrote:

Needed to share this “rush” wish with all of you ❤️🌎✨

And in return we all can send this little 4yr old girl all the positive vibes and beautiful MANA she deserves and needs right now. Lily is on home hospice and her wish is for me to sing “You’re Welcome”

Lily Guerrero, it’s my honor and this one is for you….I love you, and I want you to always know just how special you are ✨
