How to get those stranded astronauts home from the space station

Boeing Starliner astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams are facing an extended stay at the International Space Station due to thruster problems. NASA now reveals the possibility of the astronauts returning to Earth in 2025.

… The pair arrived at the ISS in June for a weeklong test flight that turned into months-long stay after thruster malfunctions. NASA is considering various options for their return, including flying them back on a SpaceX vehicle.

The two NASA astronauts who have been stuck in space for more than 60 days, may have to wait until February 2025 before they can return to Earth. NASA also said the astronauts, who arrived to the International Space Station on the Boeing Starliner, may have to be rescued by the SpaceX CrewDragon. Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore launched from Florida on June 5 on a trip that was supposed to last just eight days. Once in space, the crew found a series of concerning helium leaks and thruster failures that have left NASA and Boeing scrambling to find a solution
