An act of kindness did not go unnoticed by a Georgia UPS driver who sprung into action after he noticed a woman passed out in her driveway while on his route. Raheem Cooper immediately called 911 check to see if anyone was home, and assist the woman as best as he could after seeing her lying in the driveway.
"It was by the grace of God that I was there to help her," he said.
“About 5-6 minutes later, the ambulance came and at that point, I helped her get on the stretcher and the other young lady had to leave to go get her kids, but it was by the grace of God we were there to help her,” Cooper said.
Cooper left his name and number with the family, thinking that was the end of the road for him, but the community stepped in, taking his good deed to Facebook. "I’m satisfied with what I do, but I have to give all glory to God because if it wasn’t for Him, I wouldn’t have been there, so I just thank God. What if that was my family member, my kids, or including me with how hot the sun is? I just feel like if you see somebody that needs help, just do the best you can by God’s grace," he added.
Cooper's mother was shopping at a furniture store when she overheard the staff discussing her son's gesture. “She told them it was her son, which is me, so they told me if I just come up there they would just give it to me free. So I’m truly blessed, and I just thank them for blessing me,” he said.
Angel Burkett, Badcock operations officer, said Cooper has been a long-time customer of their store. After hearing from his mother and reading the many comments on Facebook, she and her team felt it was only right to honor him by gifting him the piece he wanted to complete his bedroom set.
“In a world we live in where there is so much hatred, I think it’s important to salute people who do stop and go out of their way to make the world a better place,” Burkett said.
Cooper contacted the woman's family, and she told him she was going through a recovery process but would be okay because of his heroic actions. He continues to thank god for putting him in the right place at the right time.
