She ordered a slice of pie that arrived half-eaten but Gayle King ate it

Gayle King this week shared the story on the air about ordering a slice of a coconut custard pie with egg custard filling from a local business. However, what she ended up receiving looked nothing like what it should have been.

“I sent this picture to the company to complain about how it arrived. I wondered if it had been eaten or maybe just jostled during delivery because it was such a mess,” King, 69, said.

“The company said they were mortified—and I'm not saying the name of the company because I really like them,” she added, noting that she placed another order with them that morning.

However, the company told the TV host that it looked like someone ate half of the pie, believing it may have been her doorman. King completely refuted the claim, instead believing that the slice may have been “jostled” during the delivery.

When asked about what she did with the slice, King laughed while confirming that she ate it.

“I’d been thinking about it for three days. I hadn't had a sweet in three days, and I just couldn't believe this company would send me something that was half-eaten,” King explained.

“I did not think it had been eaten,” she confessed. “I honest to God thought it had been jostled until I started asking people.”
