Dove has apologized for an ad for its body wash that shows a black woman pulling off a brown shirt to become a white woman in a white shirt after getting widely blasted for it, with some critics calling it racist. Dove said it is "deeply sorry" for the ad, which appeared on its Facebook page, but noted that the three-second video clip included a third woman, an Asian woman who appears after the white woman takes off her shirt, who wasn't in the screenshots that went viral. Dove said of the ad: "It featured three women of different ethnicities, each removing a t-shirt in matching skin tones to reveal the next woman. The visual was intended to convey that Dove Body Wash is for every woman and be a celebration of diversity, but we got it wrong and, as a result, offended many people. We are deeply sorry."
