Just before her new album Reputation is released, Taylor Swift will play a “never before heard” song from the album during ABC’s Scandal on November 9th, after the milestone 300th episode of Grey’s Anatomy in ABC’s “TGIT” lineup. An extended version of her live performance will air on November 10th on Freeform. Reputation, Swift’s sixth studio album, will be released later that night, at midnight.
The special appearance, part of the network’s “TGIT” programming, was revealed yesterday on Good Morning America. A teaser clip for Swift’s performance showed waves crashing against rocks, a bird flying in the sky and a waterside mansion that looks similar to Swift’s own Rhode Island mansion.
For the event, ABC’s #TGIT is being rebranded as #TGITaylor – a #TGIT is short for Thank God It’s Thursday.
Swift is a longtime fan of show creator Shonda Rhimes’ work – even naming one of cats after Meredith Grey from Grey’s Anatomy.
In August, ABC rolled out a promo spot for Grey’s, Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder set to Taylor’s “Look What You Made Me Do.” Since then, Swift has dropped “...Ready for It?” and “Gorgeous.” She unveiled another album track, “Call It What You Want,” at midnight.
